UAE accounting rules every business should know
UAE businesses report under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Smaller companies can use IFRS for SMEs.
Keep your corporate tax records for 7 years. Keep your VAT records for 5 years. The clock starts at the end of each tax period.
For sales over AED 10,000, you must issue a full tax invoice. Below that, a simplified invoice is allowed.
VAT has been mandatory in the UAE since 1 January 2018. Every registered business must file returns on time.
Get any of this wrong and the FTA can charge penalties. We keep you on the right side of the rules. Sources: Federal Tax Authority and Ministry of Finance.
